As AI reshapes recruitment, NGOs and trade unions play a key role in ensuring fairness. While AI boosts efficiency, it can also reinforce bias, making responsible oversight essential.
In Italy, trade unions sued a food delivery platform over an algorithm that penalized striking workers. In 2020, the Court of Bologna ruled the system unfair, highlighting AI’s impact on workers’ rights.
To tackle these issues, the BIAS Project is hosting:
equipping NGOs and trade unions with the skills to advocate for ethical AI in hiring.
✅ AI’s impact: Understand how AI affects workers and organizations—no tech skills needed.
✅ Bias & fairness: Identify systemic inequalities and challenge unfair AI algorithms.
✅ Legal compliance: Apply GDPR and the AI Act to protect against AI-driven discrimination.
✅ Fair AI strategies: Develop ethical recruitment practices through real-world scenarios.
✅ NGO leadership: Strengthen your organization’s role in advocating for transparent and fair AI.
🔹 Case studies: Explore AI recruitment’s impact on minority groups to raise awareness.
🔹 Self-reflection: Assess personal biases and their influence on AI perceptions.
🔹 Practical sessions: Use ETUI AI Games to identify fairness challenges and tackle bias in AI hiring.
